Our Foundry

Berkley pours the metals at industry: iron, steel, brass and aluminum. Up to 5000 pounds of -ferrous and 600 pounds of non-ferrous are typical. We know our materials and use chemical analysis to hit the mark on certified castings, ASTM standards -or Military specifications, whether for ductility, weldability, tensile strength -or other performance criteria.
The right alloy makes the right part. To get the right alloy takes someone who understands the application as well as the metal. Berkley foundrymen encompass second and third generations of metal craftsmen. We know which moly-vanadium steel will -meet the requirement, which class of ASTM A-48 gray iron will work best, and how to meet specifications on a precise manganese or aluminum bronze. Berkley blends the right metal.

Matching the metal to the task is what we are all -about. Working with the customer to improve the life of the pan is our idea of opportunity.

Berkley can perform a variety of testing:
- chemical analysis with an optical emission spectrometer
- physical analysis to determine tensile and yield strength
- hardness
- hydrostatic testing
Gauge and equipment accuracy is assured by regular calibration to the National Bureau of Standards.
